En: Sweat Baby Sweat is a new step into the investigation on the symbiosis of storytelling and abstraction. Working together with a video designer and a composer, Sweat Baby Sweat becomes a work in which composed music and projected text take an important role next to the moving composition. Departure point is the most cliché theme ever: a relationship between a man and a woman. By adding love song lyrics and at times even mellow music one would expect a very theatrical approach, but the contrary is true. The result is a one hour performance in which a lifetime is passing. A modern mating ritual: naïve, sensual, tender but painful, at the same time comforting and confronting. Jan Martens studied at the Fontys dance academy in Tilburg and graduated at the Artesis Conservatory for Dance in Antwerp in 2006. He performed in the work of amongst others: Koen De Preter, United-C, Mor Shani and Ann Van den Broek. In 2009 he started to develop his own choreographic work. In a short time his work received critical and popular acclaim which resulted in a growing number of shows performed mainly in the Netherlands and Belgium. His first major work was I can ride a horse whilst juggling so marry me (2010).

Car ces deux corps, saisis dans une tension tout autant musculaire que magnétique, dégagent une puissance de fascination électrisante, évoquant ceux de deux lutteurs des temps antiques. Deux assaillants flirtant avec leurs limites et dont l’acharnement témoigne d’un engagement qui dépasse le simple plaisir sportif : c’est l’effort d’une vie. Jan Martens a fait ses études à la Fontys dance academy à Tilburg. Diplômé du Artesis Conservatory for Dance à Anvers en 2006, il a travaillé avec e.a.: Koen De Preter, United-C, Mor Shani et Ann Van den Broek. En 2009 il commence à développer ses propres créations chorégraphiques et ses spectacles sont organisés principalement aux Pays-Bas et en Belgique. Son premier grand succès sera I can ride a horse whilst juggling so marry me (2010).
