Meena Cryle & The Chris Fillmore Band create an exceptionally honest and exciting brand of music. Southern Soul, Blues, Gospel and Rock’n’Roll are the labels most commonly used to describe this outstanding group from Austria, but the band prefer to avoid clichés and pigeonholing.
In addition to their passion for music, Meena and Chris share a deep connection that goes back more than 20 years. Their intuitive understanding is reflected in their song writing, which is reminiscent of the Tedeschi Trucks Band or the legendary Allman Brothers. The Cryle/Fillmore’s Roots-Cosmos is wide-ranging and eclectic but always deeply rooted in the Blues.
An exceptionally gifted guitar-player, Chris plays a far more important role in the overall musical concept than just being a supportive piece of the band’s whole. He acts as a pivotal figure, an anchor, which allows Meena to explore freely, then return to a safe-haven. Both form a team that, in its intensity, is an exceptional and rare thing in today’s Blues-scene.
