Creatures of Habit
Peter Perfido - perc
Robert Hall -perc
Creatures of Habit is a trio of percussionists, each with a unique musical background, and collectively in search of expressive, melodic and rhythmic sound. Franck Hemmerlé attended the Karlsruhe Conservatory and the Musicians Institute in Los Angeles. He has toured many cities internationally as a member of the Karlsruhe Percussion Ensemble. Franck has been inspired to explore additional artistic media, such as dance, painting, poetry and theatre, through his contact and study with the pianist Loris Binot and percussionist Georges Paczynski. He has played at numerous music festivals throughout Europe. Franck lives in Metz, France.
Peter Perfido is from Hartford, Connecticut. He started playing the drums at the age of eight. His first inspiration to play music was from The Beatles. Largely self-taught, Peter has performed with musicians such as Chet Baker, Gary Peacock, David Friedman, Tomasz Stanko, Lee Konitz and Michel Pilz, amongst others. Peter lives in Ban de Laveline, France. Robert Hall has been living in Luxembourg as an elementary teacher and visual artist. Recently reviving his interest in drums, he has studied with Eric Durer, and attended master classes with Ron Savage and Rakalam Bob Moses. Robert’s visual art has often taken the form of sculptural responses to particular places, and he has exhibited in Europe and the US. The Creatures of Habit are inspired by today’s vernal equinox: the passing of winter into spring. They will use an array of instruments and objects to produce sonic textures, colours and rhythms in keeping with the day. Expect some surprises.
