En: Bokko is a explosive dance performance with whipped up music and video animation, by Karel van Laere and Vanja Rukavina. These two theatre performers are so interested in the influence of Asian media culture on reality that they decided to make a show about it and with Bokko Karel and Vanja like to translate the phenomenon, that nowadays reality is shaped by the media, into a performance. Therefore the audience get swamped with a paradox of emptiness and fantasy. Explosive, fast and powerful, just like the media communicates with the population. Fame by frame they taught themselves the popular South Korean dance so they could use it as a basis. They made new choreographies and together with new composed Asian disco music, video and Japanese manga they created a total experience where the audience has no time to breathe.

Both Vanja Rukavina and Karel van Laere studied at Toneelacademie Maastricht (NL) and graduated in 2011 as theatrical performer. Karel then was specialised in video art at the National University for the Art in Taipei and made two video installations Slow and Impact. Besides his work at Toneelgroep Amsterdam Vanja makes his own performances like The Rukavina Method. Together they initialised Dance Dance Rev- olution and are now touring with Bokko the ultimate fusion.

Fr: Bokko est une performance explosive sur une musique rythmée et une animation vidéo réalisée par Karel van Laere et Vanja Rukavina. Ces deux comédiens passionnés par la culture médiatique asiatique ont décidé de monter un spectacle sur ce thème. Bokko the ultimate fusion montre la diffusion et le clonage de la gestuelle du Bokko Dance Show, nous questionnant sur des succès planétaires comme le Gangnam Style. Vanja Rukavina et Karel van Laere sont diplômés de la Toneelacademie Maastricht (Pays-Bas, 2011) en tant que comédiens. Karel a ensuite étudié une année à la National University for the Arts à Taipei, où il s’est spécialisé en audiovisuel. Il a réalisé deux installations vidéos Slow et Impact. Vanja, lui, en plus de son travail à Toneelgroep Amsterdam, réalise ses propres spectacles, comme The Rukavina Method. Après une première production Dance Dance Revolution, ils ont lancé ensemble Bokko the ultimate fusion, spectacle avec lequel ils sont actuellement en tournée.
