Eve Beuvens Trio - We love jazz standards!

The pianist Eve Beuvens is also a composer. She has composed for her trio, for her quartet and for her septet “Heptatomic” and yet, it is not the desire to play her own compositions that pushed her to play again in trio but rather the desire to play the pieces she wishes she had written! These three musicians come together around pieces that are for them the masterpieces of European jazz and the “American Songbook”, those they never tire of re-discovering and re-inventing. A few original compositions complete their repertoire, thus offering a music that is varied, refined and full of strength.

Eve Beuvens first wanted to play the double bass, then, at 13, she preferred to play the piano because it seemed to her to require less strength! She was directly attracted by jazz. She then followed the lessons of Nathalie Loriers. She released her first album “Noordzee” in a quartet on the Igloo label in 2009. Her first opus revealed a composer without clichés as well as a multi-faceted pianist. Her music surprised critics with its freshness and fluidity, and seduced audiences with its poetry and intensity. In 2013 she created the septet “Heptatomic” and in 2018 she released “Looking Forward” with Swedish saxophonist Mikael Godée with whom she has been collaborating since 2010. Since the summer of 2017 Eve is also dedicated to a solo piano project.

Victor Foulon discovered the pleasure of making music as a teenager thanks to his grandfather who taught him his first bossa nova chords. Very quickly passionate, he enters the conservatory in 2008 where he will study the jazz guitar and the jazz double bass three years later. Today, he is a graduate of both instruments and can be found on double bass in projects ranging from traditional swing to more contemporary jazz and on guitar in more world projects

Jan de Haas became interested in music and percussion at a very young age. He spent 3 years at the Berklee College of Music in Boston where he accompanied American musicians such as Dave Kikoski and Makoto Ozone. Since that time, he has accompanied many Belgian and foreign artists and has participated in numerous recordings. He also teaches at the Antwerp Conservatory. As a leader, his first album was released in 1999 under the name For the one and only, in which he reveals his talents as a vibraphonist.
