Renewal of the ESR label CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

In 2010, neimënster was one of the first companies in the Grand Duchy to obtain the ESR – Corporate Social Responsibility label. A new label was obtained in 2020. This distinction rewards the efforts made to improve its governance, strengthen its social commitment and limit its environmental impact. This ecological and socio-responsible awareness is reflected not only in the daily work of the employees but also in the activities offered by the center and in the exchanges with cultural and corporate partners over the years. The ESR – Responsible Company label is valid for a period of 3 years.

To give itself the means to reach its objectives, neimënster has drawn up a CSR charter that sets out its commitments in terms of social responsibility and has drawn up an action plan which includes concrete measures aimed at achieving its objectives for the next 3 years. A CSR Committee was appointed in 2020 to discuss and implement on-going efforts. Its mission is to appoint people responsible for the implementation of the action plan and to ensure the follow-up of the 2020-2023 CSR action plan.

Parity in the artistic offer REPRESENTATION OF SOCIETY

The challenge of parity remains major, especially in certain fields where men are over-represented, such as jazz, but this constant and conscious effort commits neimënster to the path of a more egalitarian society, concerned with promoting an ever more inclusive culture. Parity is for example one of the leitmotivs in the choice of artists for the RESET jazz residency: 4 women and 4 men, 8 instruments and 8 different countries.

Mediation TRANSMISSION OF VALUES

Transmitting to the widest possible audience diversified artistic proposals, questioning society and the stakes of citizen actions, humanists and the construction of an inclusive society represent a challenge that neimënster tries to take up every day by proposing a program that is concerned with these values and able to reach all its potential audiences. Working with social and educational partners also allows us to reach out to remote audiences. The latter are sometimes the subject of specific projects within the framework of artists’ residencies (children from homes, DPI, BPI…).

Social & intercultural dialogue DEMOCRATIZATION OF CULTURE

This action includes the promotion of the Kulturpass. The Kulturpass is an individual card that is valid for two years and entitles the holder to purchase a ticket for a performance at a price of €1.50. All ticketed events in neimënster, regardless of who organizes them, have a quota of tickets for Kulturpass holders. neimënster is also one of the institutions with the largest number of free events in the country, a major asset appreciated by the public (breaks, exhibitions, free lectures, etc., 7 days a week over a wide range of hours).

Accessible to all and everyone PEOPLE WITH REDUCED MOBILITY

People with reduced mobility have access to the various meeting rooms, auditoriums and exhibitions throughout the site. Two parking spaces are also marked and reserved next to the abbey. The interior parking lot is accessible on request. The outside staircase in front of the Robert Krieps room is equipped with a lifting platform for people with reduced mobility.

It provides access to the building, the fortifications, the green areas behind neimënster and the Clausen district.

Mielusina

At the request of neimënster, the Federation of Beekeepers has installed since 2012 several beehives in the gardens of the City of Luxembourg, along the banks of the Alzette, in the immediate vicinity of the Abbey. The bees find there an ideal environment, preserved from pesticides, monoculture and urban turmoil.

The pollination carried out by the bees on the territory of the city of Luxembourg is therefore part of the green approach of neimënster. A total of 10. beehives – one of which is used by the MNHN for educational purposes – have been installed in the Pétrusse valley, along the Alzette river. Each hive contains between 15,000 and 60,000 worker bees depending on the season and produces an average of 20 kg of honey per harvest. The nectar is harvested twice a year by the beekeeper Georges Gidt: in spring for a clearer and sweeter honey, in summer for a more amber-colored and stronger tasting honey.
